He did not accept the offer of the Russian security forces to become ‘useful’ for them and betray his people: the mother of political prisoner Appaz Kurtamet reported the true reason for her son’s arrest. Although Appaz was offered freedom in exchange for co-operation with Russian security forces, he refused without a second’s hesitation, – said Ayshe Odabash, the mother of the political prisoner ‘Proud of my son more and more, he is a real man, will never betray his own,’ the mother wrote. ‘Appaz is holding on very steadfastly and positively, believes in early release, believes that he has not been forgotten and that he is on the lists for the next exchange. Appaz misses his friends very much, he is waiting for letters from all those who know him and from those who do not. For guys in captivity, every letter is a breath of air and hope,’ – said the prisoner’s sister, who was able to see him as part of a long-term visit.
