Two years ago, on February 14, 2019, the Russian security forces carried out mass searches in the houses of the Crimean Tatars in the town of Oktiabrske, Krasnohvardiiske district of Crimea. As a result, 3 people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation – Arsen Abkhairov, Eskender Abdulhaniev and Rustem Emiruseinov. In November 2020, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don announced the verdict to political prisoners. Rustem Emiruseinov was sentenced to 17 years in prison, Arsen Abkhairov – to 13, and Eskender Abdulhaniev – to 12. They have been illegally detained for two years already.
