The dictation will take place on February 21, 2025 at 19:00 (Kyiv time) in the format of an online broadcast on the Nefes YouTube channel and the initiative’s Facebook page.
This is the seventh such event – the first dictation was held in 2019. The text for this year’s dictation was prepared by translator, editor and teacher of the Crimean Tatar language Maye Safet, and will be read by philologist Mamure Chabanova.
“From 2022 to 2024, our initiative dedicated an annual online dictation to Crimean Tatar activists, volunteers, and members of the Nefes team: Nariman Dzhelal (who was returned from a Russian prison on June 28, 2024 by Ukraine), Asan Akhtemov and Aziz Akhtemov, who have been in captivity since September 2021, as well as all political prisoners and illegally persecuted in Crimea,” – the initiative said in a press release.
It is noted that participants will have one day – until 20:00 on February 22 – to send a text (photo or scan) to Nefes email ([email protected]). The mandatory conditions are the indication of the name, country, city and a link to a Facebook or Instagram account. Entries written in illegible handwriting or with unreadable photos will not be reviewed.
