Russia has stopped using the Crimean bridge to transport weapons

After repeated attacks on the Crimean bridge, Russia stopped using it for transportation of weapons and switched to using land routes. This was reported by The Independent.

According to analysts of the Ukrainian agency Molfar, there is now virtually no traffic on the Crimean bridge: almost no military freight trains have run along the bridge’s rail line for three months. Only on February 29, one Russian cargo train was spotted carrying about 55 cars of fuel.

“Kyiv should now focus its attention on Melitopol, Berdyansk and Mariupol, where Russia is laying new rail lines to connect these occupied Ukrainian regions with Crimea and mainland Russia,”- said Molfar CEO Artem Starosek.

The new rail line, which runs from Akimovka in Melitopol and stretches to Berdyansk and Mariupol before reaching Rostov in Russia, is likely to be used by Russian troops for a new offensive.

According to Starosek, Ukraine could benefit by targeting the overland routes of the rail lines that run from Akimovka in Melitopol and stretch to Berdyansk and Mariupol. They are likely to be used by Russian forces for a new offensive.

“It is these routes that now pose a greater threat than the unusable railroad track of the Crimean Bridge. Western aid should also be provided in a way that can cover Ukraine’s need to strike these active Russian munitions points,” – he said.
