Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev held a working meeting with the Mayor of Geneva, Mr. Alfonso Gomez.
Eskender Bariiev spoke about the situation in Ukraine in the conditions of Russia’s armed aggression, and also proposed to erect a memorial stone to the victims of the genocide on Geneva’s Square of Nations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
In addition, the interlocutors discussed what public events can be held in Geneva, including with the support of the City Hall.
The Head of the Board of the CTRC presented the Crimean Tatar flag to the Mayor’s Office and recommended that it be raised on the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag on June 26 above the City Hall.
“Mr. Gomez said that he raised the Tibetan flag on Tibet’s Independence Day, to which there was a reaction from China. I told the mayor that Ukraine is a democratic country, on this day the Crimean Tatar flag is raised over the administrative buildings of Ukraine and Ukrainian embassies, so Ukraine will support such an initiative”,- he said.
