It is a great and historic victory of indigenous people of Ukrainian State that the President of Ukraine signed the law "On the indigenous peoples of Ukraine", on July 23, 2021,. Hope long awaited dream become true of Ukraine people. Now the way for progress is open of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in holistic approach. After this law land resource and territory will secure for Ukraine Indigenous people.
In this era Indigenous people living in any part of this global world are very very important for all nation. Because of global warming and climate change now new planning and policies are centered in indigenous community. Indigenous people are vital for the planet and for the people. In this Novel Corona Virus time culture tradition and nature based living styles are in focus of UN and various government. In India in indigenous area Novel Corona Virus made very less impact less than 3 percent on indigenous community.
Implementation of UNDRIP, SDG and Beijing declaration of Indigenous women are quite relevant to develop any nation in holistic approach.
law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine", for Ukraine indigenous people is vital in this perspective.
law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine” covers only 11 articles mentioned in UNDRIP. In UNDRIP there are 46 articles.
May be it will a big challenge that how to cover all remain 35 articles.
law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine” will cover indigenous community and it will address indigenous women too. So it will relevant to cover Beijing declaration of Indigenous Women.
Article 5 of law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine” should be linked with SDG goal no. 16 Peace Justice and strong institution.
It is historic to introduced law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine”. But other most important thing is to develop indigenous institution to implement this law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine”.
From Indigenous people India Network (I WIN) and TORANG TRUST and Tribal Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( TICCI) wish Ukrainian Indigenous people to celebrate this law globally.
We Indian Indigenous people are far away from Ukraine Indigenous people. Hope we will follow Ukraine Indigenous people and will have National Tribal Policy which was drafted in 2005 and still pending in Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Hope law "On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine” will show the way to Indian government.
Something is better than nothing. Ukrainian Indigenous people now got something through this law.
We will celebrate it in India on August 9th on the Indigenous Day.
