The Crimean Tatar Resource Center launches a social media storm dedicated to the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag. We invite every person who cares, every person, every conscious citizen of their country to join us.
Since the beginning of the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by Russia in 2014, Crimean Tatars have been subjected to terrible repression because of their pro-Ukrainian position. Detentions, arrests, interrogations, murders are the things the indigenous people went through. In such circumstances, the Crimean Tatar flag has become a symbol of the struggle for Crimea both for the Crimean Tatars themselves and for Ukraine and its citizens. It is a symbol of the indigenous people’s resistance and struggle for their freedom and rights.
Now, in such a difficult time for the whole of Ukraine, in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it is crucial to continue the struggle together. The Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar peoples not only share the same colors on their flags, but also have the same goal and the same future – a free, united and independent Ukraine. And it is very important to grant official status to the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag as a sign of solidarity with the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
