On Wednesday, January 18, Russian security forces came to the house of the Crimean Tatar activist Elmaz Akimova in the occupied Crimea to talk to her. She was forced to leave Crimea.
“Today (January 18) around 18 o’clock uninvited law enforcement officer came home again. This time alone. For the last almost 3 weeks – this is the second visit. Again without any warnings, cautions. He introduced himself to my parents as a police captain. He came to talk to me. What topic I don’t know. A few days ago, on the recommendations of lawyers, relatives, and close friends, I was forced to temporarily leave Crimea. And I hope that very soon I will return home to Crimea”,- she wrote on her Facebook page.
We remind you that at the end of December 2022, Elmaz Akimova reported that an employee of the Russian Center for Countering Extremism and a district police officer visited her house. Then she was not handed cautions or warnings. When asked what this visit was about, she was told that this is an order from the leadership to check the place of residence of some people.
