On Monday, July 17, during the 16th session of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, representatives of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine and the Russian Federation called on Russia to stop the war in Ukraine and stop killing indigenous peoples.
When the word was given to the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev, behind him representatives of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation unfurled posters with the inscriptions: Russia, STOP THE WAR, Russia must stop killing Indigenous people.
Unfortunately, representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North Caucasus, Buryatia, Siberia and the Urals, as well as representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people in the occupied Crimea, are subjected to forced mobilization in Russia. This led to mass emigration of men to third countries.
We remind you that the forum is attended by the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev and the manager of the CTRC Liudmyla Korotkykh, who plan to carry out work aimed at protecting the rights of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.
