The Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), at the initiative of the Partnership for Strong Ukraine Foundation (PSUF) Programme, is conducting a survey among Crimean Tatars living in Ukraine.

The main purpose of this research is to understand the sentiments of the residents of Ukraine regarding the de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea, as well as to identify ways to strengthen social cohesion in Ukraine and mitigate potential conflict issues related to the deoccupation of Crimea.

In particular, Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, first gave an in-depth interview on these issues, and yesterday, 7 August, took part in a special focus group.

A total of 8 representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people aged over 50 joined the conversation. They discussed issues related to the situation of Crimean Tatars who left and are in the controlled territory of Ukraine, the future of Crimea, and also paid attention to what kind of communications should be between Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.

It is expected that the results of the research will inform the implementation of the Crimean Cognitive Deoccupation Strategy and the related Action Plan.
