On Monday, May 8, in the office of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, a working meeting was held with the Ambassador of Spain to Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine Ricardo Lopez-Aranda Jagu, Consul of the Embassy of Spain in Ukraine Jose Lozano Gallardo, Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, Head of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Riza Shevkiev.
During the meeting, those present were informed about the situation with human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, and significant attention was drawn to the de-occupation and reintegration of the peninsula.
The interlocutors discussed in detail the issue of the legal status of Crimea in post-war Ukraine. After all, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people consistently defends the position that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine, and after its de-occupation, it is necessary to talk about the creation of precisely national-territorial autonomy.
We remind you that Eskender Bariiev has repeatedly stressed the importance of creating a national-territorial autonomy.
So, as for the future of Ukraine as a unitary state, Bariiev believes that there can be no territorial autonomy precisely on the administrative principle, since this is a threat to the unitarity of the state.
“We can only talk about national-territorial autonomy, that is, as a form of self-determination of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine”,- the expert added.
