On Friday, April 15, the team of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center held an online meeting with representatives of the Rafal Lemkin Center for Documenting Russian Crimes in Ukraine of the Pilecki Institute (Poland).
The participants of the meeting were representatives of the center Jerzy Rogorzynski and Eric Chabowski, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev, managers of the CTRC Zarema Bariieva and Liudmyla Korotkykh.
The Rafal Lemkin Center for Documentation of Russian Crimes in Ukraine of the Pilecki Institute has been documenting Russian war crimes during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which caused thousands of casualties. Thus, this institute formulated its own questionnaire, in which information is collected to record all violations.
The CTRC also shared its questionnaire, which is aimed at ensuring that these crimes are considered in the future in the procedural plan, as well as that information is presented to international courts.
It is worth noting that such documentation is important in historiographical terms, so that all the violations committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine are described in a qualified manner, and also that these materials are useful in procedural terms.
Representatives of the organizations discussed the details of signing a memorandum of cooperation, and also identified areas for joint activities.
“By joining forces, we will be able to record the crimes against humanity of the 21st century and thus be able to convey information about the genocide of the Ukrainian people to future generations. We will try to ensure that such crimes are never committed again”,- Bariiev stressed.
