On Tuesday, January 25, a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Michael Brodsky was held at the office of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. The diplomat was told about the situation in the occupied Crimea, and the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariiev spoke about the mechanism for bringing to justice those responsible for violating human rights on the peninsula.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Michael Brodsky, an employee of the Embassy Mrs. Alexandra Ben Ari, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev and members of the Mejlis Gayana Yuksel and Riza Shevkiev.
The ambassador was told about the situation with human rights violations in the occupied Crimea. Eskender Bariiev handed over to the diplomat the Analysis of the situation in the occupied Crimea as of 2020, developed by the CTRC, and also informed about the number of Crimean political prisoners of the Kremlin. He noted that when mentioning human rights violations in concentration camps, it is important to record all these cases. After all, sooner or later everyone must be punished.
The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariiev spoke about the main activities of the organization. In order to bring to justice those responsible for human rights violations in the occupied Crimea and prevent violations in the future, the representative of the CTRC suggested to the diplomat to promote the adoption in Israel of a law analogous to the Magnitsky Act, which provides for the introduction of personal sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations in the occupied Crimea.
