June 4, 2021

On Thursday, June 3, the official representative of the EU foreign policy service Peter Stano condemned the verdict of the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, saying that this is another example of the persecution of the Crimean Tatar people by the so-called Russian authorities.

“The European Union does not recognize the illegal annexation of the Crimean Peninsula by Russia and therefore does not recognize and does not recognize this so-called verdict of the illegal trial. The verdict of Mr. Chubarov constitutes a serious violation of his human rights and another example of the persecution of the Crimean Tatar people by the so-called Russian authorities”,- the message said.

We remind that on June 1, the so-called Supreme Court of the occupied Crimea passed a verdict in absentia to the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, who is accused of organizing mass riots. The occupants sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, a fine of 200,000 rubles and 200 hours of correctional labor.
