Damaging the dam on the North Crimean Canal by the Russian army caused damage to the environment of Ukraine in the amount of more than 2.6 billion hryvnias

Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Policy, Chief Coordinator of the Operational Headquarters for Fixing Eco-Crimes Olena Kryvoruchkina said that the explosion of the dam on the North Crimean Canal by the Russian army caused damage to the environment of Ukraine in the amount of more than 2.6 billion hryvnias.

“Today, the amount of losses, according to experts of the Operational Headquarters, is about UAH 2 billion 642 million 945 thousand 760. Ukraine, through international courts, will demand from the occupying country full compensation for the damage caused to the ecology of our country”,- she said.

The People's Deputy also stressed that the Operational Headquarters maintains a unified register of environmental crimes of the Russian Federation, calculations are made for each particular case. In the future, Ukraine will apply to international courts for compensation by Russia for all losses caused to the state's ecosystem.
