In the occupied Crimea, two rivers are on the verge of drying up

August 6, 2020

Forecasters from the occupied Crimea noted that very low water levels were observed in the upper reaches of most of the main rivers due to a prolonged shortage of precipitation, and the two rivers Alma and Chorna are on the verge of drying up. This is reported by the so-called Hydrometeorological Center of the annexed peninsula.

“In the river basins, the summer low-water regime remained. Due to the long-term shortage of precipitation, very low water levels were observed in the upper reaches of most of the main rivers on which the reservoirs of drinking runoff are located, and the rivers Alma and Chorna were on the verge of drying out”,- the message says.

It is noted that daily changes in water levels were insignificant, only in the basin of the Maly Salhyr River on July 1, 13 and 21, a short-term increase in water levels by 61-105 cm was observed.
