The occupying security forces have made unsubstantiated claims about his “involvement” with the Ukrainian special services and have charged him with “aiding terrorist activities” under Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Russian propaganda media reported on the alleged “elimination” of a person during his detention, as well as on the detention of the so-called “accomplice of the organizer of the crime,” against whom a criminal case was opened under the article on “facilitating terrorist activity.” These reports probably referred to Rustem Fakhriev.
At the same time, Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, stated that such reports appear to be staged and may indicate a premeditated murder aimed at intimidating the residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea.
