Such actions by the occupiers mean the actual forced deprivation of Ukrainian citizens of their property rights in the temporarily occupied territory.
This is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, in particular the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the occupying power from confiscating or appropriating the property of the civilian population in the occupied territory.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center condemns the continuation of the policy of illegal appropriation of housing in the temporarily occupied territories and emphasizes that these actions are war crimes for which the perpetrators will be held accountable.
We continue to document human rights violations and call on the international community to increase pressure on the occupying state to end illegal practices and protect the rights of the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
