In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the occupying authorities illegally sentenced 35-year-old Nazar Trofimov in absentia, declaring him wanted and claiming that he was “hiding from the investigation.” The man is accused of alleged extremism because of comments he made on Telegram. This was reported by the Crimean branch of the FSB, and the information was disseminated by the Russian agency TASS.
According to the occupiers, a 35-year-old Trofimov was an active participant in Ukrainian Telegram chats, where he expressed critical views on Russian politics from an anonymous account. After the man “disappeared,” he was placed on an international wanted list. The occupation ‘court’ sentenced him to 3.5 years in a general regime colony under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“public calls for extremism”).
