Crimean political prisoner Muslim Aliev has been held in a strict regime barracks (SRB) in correctional colony No. 2 in the city of Salavat, Bashkortostan (Russian Federation), for more than 1,140 days. This was reported by Crimean Solidarity, citing his wife, Nadzhie Adzhi-Mamutova.

“Muslim has been in the SRB since August 16, 2022. He has also been periodically thrown into solitary confinement for various periods of time,” says the political prisoner’s wife.

One of the reasons for his transfer to solitary confinement was that Aliev did not stop praying during a visit by the prison warden. Despite a complaint filed with the court, his conditions of detention have not changed.

Since his transfer to the colony in September 2020, he has been subjected to pressure: on October 1 of that year, he was placed in solitary confinement for the first time.

Emir-Huseyn Kuku, Vadim Siruk, Muslim Aliev, Enver Bekirov, Arsen Dzhepparov, and Refat Alimov are accused of participating in the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in the Russian Federation. They are charged under Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“organization of and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization”). Later, they were also charged under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“violent seizure of power or violent retention of power”). On November 12, 2019, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don announced the verdict in the case. Muslim Aliev and Enver Bekirov were sentenced to 19 and 18 years in a strict regime colony,
Emir-Huseyn Kuku and Vadim Siruk to 12 years, Refat Alimov to 8 years, and Arsen Dzhepparov to 7 years.
