On September 26, 2025, Sergeant Marlen Abdulghafarov of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would have turned 60. He was the deputy commander of the 5th assault company of the 48th separate assault battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhihan and an active participant in the Crimean Tatar national movement.

Unfortunately, on December 21, 2024, Marlen Abdulhafarov suddenly died of a heart attack after returning from another combat mission, during which he suffered minor injuries.

On December 24, a farewell ceremony for the soldier was held in the village of Chaiky. The ceremony was held at the mosque of the Crimean Tatar Cultural Center “Birlik,” after which the hero’s body was buried in the Muslim section of the Chaiky village cemetery.

It is known that in 2022, after his son, Armed Forces officer Medzhit Abdulhafarov, went missing, he left occupied Crimea and joined the ranks of the Ukrainian army.

The staff of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center honors the memory of Marlen Abdulhafarov and once again reminds society of his courage and selflessness.
