Mukhtar Arislanov worked as a physical education teacher at a school in Simferopol district and was a judo coach. On August 27, 2015, he left his home to go grocery shopping at the Zaleskiy market in Akmesdzhit (Simferopol) and has not returned since.
The so-called Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder), but the investigation did not yield any positive results.
After the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, disappearances and abductions have become common practice. According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a total of 29 people have been reported missing without any information during the occupation, 18 of whom are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
