A 63-year-old Crimean political prisoner, Enver Omerov, was able to see his family at Colony No. 6 in Yoshkar-Ola (Republic of Mari El). His daughter, Fatma Ismailova, told Crimean Solidarity about this.

She noted that on July 25, she left Crimea with her mother, her brother’s wife, and two elder children to visit him. The trip took about a day and a half, and on July 28, the Omerov family arrived at the colony.

According to Fatma Ismailova, her father is feeling well and has no health complaints.

“He was very happy to see us. We talked a lot and cooked together during those three days. My father works in a sewing department; he has learned to sew very well,” – said the daughter of the political prisoner.

Enver Omerov also expressed his gratitude to everyone who is helping his family.

Crimean Solidarity reminded that last fall he reported that he needed surgery for an illness he had suffered from even before his arrest, but did not have time to have it done. In addition, Omerov planned to replace his dentures, which had “deteriorated significantly” during his imprisonment.
We would like to remind that on June 10, 2019, Russian security forces conducted mass searches of Crimean Tatar homes in Alushta, Bilohirsk, and Akmesdzhit (Simferopol). As a result, 8 people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is banned in the Russian Federation. On June 10 and 11, the Kyiv District “Court” of Simferopol imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention on the Crimean Tatars detained after the searches: Riza Omerov, Enver Omerov, Ayder Dzhepparov, Eskender Suleimanov, Ruslan Nagaev, Eldar Kantimirov, Ruslan Mensutov, and Lenur Khalilov. Subsequently, the occupiers repeatedly extended the preventive measure for the political prisoners. On January 12, 2021, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Enver Omerov to 18 years, Ayder Dzhepparov to 17 years, and Riza Omerov to 13 years in prison.
