Information campaign #LIBERATECRIMEA

February 27, 2023

Supported by: “USAID/ENGAGE activity, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine.

Despite the fact that the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation has been going on for several years, Ukrainian society remains poorly informed about the situation in Crimea. The average Ukrainian is beginning to adapt to the fact that Crimea is not under the control of Ukraine. National and regional media do not properly cover the topic of Crimea.

Therefore, there is a necessity to carry out constant work on informing Ukrainian society about the situation in Crimea. With this in mind, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center has launched the #LIBERATECRIMEA information campaign, which is timed to coincide with four historical dates related to Crimea:

February 26 – Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea;
May 18 – Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People;
June 26 – Day of the Crimean Tatar National Flag;
The main goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of the Ukrainian population about the situation in Crimea, the indigenous peoples of Ukraine, their history and culture.
