On February 26, to the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea, the documentary film of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center “Crimean Askers”, which tells about the participation of the Crimean Tatar people in the Russian-Ukrainian war, was shown on VSTRC “Vinnichyna” and ITA “VITA” TV channels.

The broadcast was held with the assistance of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine.

We would like to remind that this movie aims to debunk myths about the passivity of Crimean Tatars in the struggle for Ukraine. There are still opinions that the Crimean Tatars allegedly do not fight and just wait for the return of Crimea. However, history proves otherwise.

Since the occupation of Crimea in 2014, Crimean Tatars have been subjected to brutal repression for their pro-Ukrainian stance. Arrests, interrogations, kidnappings and even murders have become a terrible reality for them. Many were forced to leave their homes. Many of them joined Ukraine’s armed defense: some in 2022, others as early as 2014.

The documentary Crimean Askers tells the story of the Crimean Tatar people’s participation in the Russian-Ukrainian war and is an important source of truth about this struggle.

The movie is available in three languages:

Ukrainian
 English

This film screening was another important step in spreading awareness about the Crimean Tatar resistance and their struggle for a free Ukraine. The Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar peoples not only share common colors on their flags, but also share a common goal – an independent, integral Ukraine.

Together to Victory!
