Ukraine will never recognize occupied territories as part of Russia – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

March 3, 2025
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine will not agree to the legal or actual recognition of the occupied territories as part of Russia. He expressed this position while talking to journalists after the summit of European leaders in London on March 2, 2025.

“Everyone should understand that Ukraine will never recognize any territories occupied by Russia as Russian territories. For us it will be a temporary occupation,” Zelensky emphasized, noting that this is a principled position based on respect for international law.

The President also noted that Ukraine’s future security depends on the support of international partners.

“Security guarantees for Ukraine should be such to 100% exclude a new aggression from Russia,” – the President said.

He emphasized that if Russia’s aggression is repeated, the response will be given not only by Ukraine, but also by other states.

Zelensky also assured that Ukraine does not intend to “give away” territories or recognize them as part of Russia.

There is no chance that we will give something away by our own will. Chances that we will legally recognize, I believe that there is no,” – stressed Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center continues to work actively to recognize the occupation of Crimea and other Ukrainian territories as an act of aggression, condemns Russia’s illegal actions and does everything possible to return all territories of Ukraine under the control of its sovereignty.
