Crimean political prisoner Asan Akhtemov was transferred from the Vladimir Central Prison to the penal colony No. 5 in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by his wife Repika Akhtemova on her Facebook page.

‘Today, 17 February 2025, I received a call from my beloved husband. On Saturday morning, 15 February, he was taken from the Vladimir Central Prison, and at night he was brought to the Penitentiary Colony No. 5 in Nizhny Novgorod. He is currently there, it is unknown how long he will stay in this facility,’ – she wrote.

According to her, Asan has been suffering from severe joint pain for more than a year, which worsens in cold weather. He did not receive the necessary medical care during his stay in the Vladimir Center.

Despite the difficult conditions, Asan Akhtemov sends greetings to everyone and thanks for the letters and support.

As a reminder, on 6 September 2021, a Russian ‘court’ in occupied Crimea arrested Asan Akhtemov.

On 21 September 2022, the Supreme ‘court’ of Crimea announced the sentence to Asan Akhmetov – 15 years in prison in a strict regime colony.
