The occupation ‘authorities’ of Crimea force students to become military registered for the sake of scholarships

February 18, 2025
The occupants continue the forced militarization of Crimea. Now students at the Kerch State Maritime Technical University are forced to register for military service in order to receive scholarships. This is reported by the ‘Centre of national resistance’.

‘In the Kerch State Maritime Technical University occupation ‘authorities’ introduced a new procedure for the payment of scholarships. Consequently, students will receive financial support only if they are put on the so-called military registration. This step is another attempt of forced militarization of young people in the temporarily occupied territories and grossly violates international human rights norms,’ – the statement says.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center notes that such actions indicate the critical state of the demographic situation in Russia itself. The aggressor country is forced to attract even students to its army, which once again proves the reduction of its human resources. That is why the Russian occupation administration continues the policy of attracting young people from the temporarily occupied Crimea to its military machine.

We would like to remind you that in 2022 the Crimean Tatar Resource Center launched an information campaign ‘Mogilisation’, which aims to stop the illegal involvement of Crimean residents in the war against Ukraine. Once again we call on students and their families not to give in to the pressure of the occupation ‘authorities’ and use all possible means to avoid illegal mobilization.
