On November 21, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation will hold a hearing to consider the defense’s cassation appeals in the case of Asan and Aziz. This was reported by Akhtemov’s wife Repika on her Facebook page.

The meeting is scheduled for 10:00 and will be held in the format of a video conference. Asan and Aziz will join the process from the institutions where they are currently being held, and their lawyers will participate from the premises of the Supreme “court” of the Republic of Crimea.

As a reminder, on September 6, 2021, a Russian “court” in the occupied Crimea arrested the First Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelialov, as well as brothers Aziz and Asan Akhtemov.

On September 21, 2022, the Supreme “court” of Crimea announced a sentence of 13 years in a strict regime colony with a fine of 500 thousand rubles and one year’s restriction of liberty to Aziz Akhtemov, and 15 years in a strict regime colony to Asan Akhmetov.
