III Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform will be held in Riga, bringing together delegations from 40 countries

The III Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, which will be held on 24 October in Riga, will be attended by delegations from about 40 countries and representatives of international organisations. This is reported by the press service of the Latvian Saeima.

Participation in the event confirmed delegations from the parliaments of such countries as Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Delegations from the parliamentary assemblies of international organisations such as the European Parliament, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and NATO have also confirmed their participation in the summit.

During the two days, expert discussions will be held on the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944, as well as their struggle for human rights in Crimea.

The event will end with the screening of the documentary film ‘The Real History of Crimea’, which will be opened by the heads of the Latvian and Ukrainian parliaments Daiga Mierinja and Ruslan Stefanchuk, as well as Refat Chubarov, Mustafa Dzhemilev and Riga Mayor Vilnis Kirsis.

It should be recalled that the CTRC experts are active participants in two working groups of the Crimea Platform expert network: ‘Restoration of the rights of indigenous peoples as a tool for deoccupation of Crimea’ and ‘Economy and Ecology’. Representatives of the organisation will also join the III Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform.

The Crimea Platform was founded in 2021 to coordinate international efforts to deoccupy Crimea and protect human rights on the peninsula. Previous summits were held in Zagreb and Prague.
