Two men have recently been detained in the occupied Crimea and accused of ‘treason and espionage’. They are a 45-year-old resident of the peninsula and a 43-year-old foreigner. This was reported by Russian media.

According to them, the 45-year-old man called the SBU hotline and offered his help. After that, he passed information to the Ukrainian special service about the deployment of air defence forces in Kerch covering the Crimean bridge, the movement of military echelons and the work of the defence industry.

The 43-year-old foreigner operated on the territory of Akyar (Sevastopol) and collected data on the deployment of personnel, equipment and the location of the Russian Armed Forces’ facilities in the interests of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. They passed the information to the Ukrainian side for possible use during missile strikes.

‘Criminal cases have been opened under Articles 275 (high treason in the form of espionage) and 276 (transferring, collecting with the intent to transfer to the enemy information that can be used against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, committed in conditions of armed hostilities) of the Criminal Code, respectively,’ – the press service said.

The suspects have been taken into custody by a ‘court’ decision and face life imprisonment.
