On Tuesday, October 8, a delegation of Crimean Tatar Derneks of Turkey, members of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, headed by the Chairman of the Platform of Crimean Tatar Organizations of Turkey Umit Şilit, arrived in Kyiv.
During their two-day visit, the guests will meet with the leadership of the Ukrainian government and administration.
In particular, on the morning of October 8, the delegation of the Crimean Tatar Derneks of Turkey, together with members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, including the Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariiev, paid tribute to the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people. They laid flowers at the Memorial to the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people in Kyiv.In addition, the delegation visited Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mission of the President in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Crimean House State Enterprise, and the State Emergency Service.
“The visit of representatives of the Crimean Tatar diaspora in Turkey and Romania is considered very important because it is a demonstration of solidarity and support for Ukraine and the entire Ukrainian people. This is a demonstration of support for the Crimean Tatar people and other indigenous peoples of Ukraine, including those who are in the TOT of Crimea. Thus, the Crimean Tatars demonstrate their solidarity, their unity on the issue of the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” – said Eskender Bariiev .
The Head of the CTRC Board emphasizes that during the meetings, representatives of the diaspora, especially in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a statement in which they clearly stated the following important points
- the Crimean Tatar diaspora in Turkey and Romania stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian state.
- the Crimean Tatar diaspora is ready to continue to promote and support both political and humanitarian spheres of Ukraine.
- the Crimean Tatar diaspora recognizes the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as the only representative body of the indigenous people and is guided by its policies.
