Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Eskender Bariiev will participate in the Briefing on Indigenous Peacebuilding as a Way to Mitigate Violent Conflicts and Ensure a More Peaceful World by UN Member States attending the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During the briefing, speakers will discuss peacebuilding, wars and military conflicts in different parts of the globe, including the war in Ukraine, which is the homeland of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people, Karaites and Krymchaks.

The main objectives of the briefing are to provide maximum detailed information both to the UN Member States participating in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly and to the participants of the ‘Summit of the Future’, which will also be held in New York:
- Historic First Global Summit on Indigenous Peoples’ Peacebuilding.
- Restoring trust and solidarity between peoples, nations and generations to forge new agreements that will guide future international efforts for more effective global co-operation.
- Issues related to the active inclusion of indigenous peoples in peacebuilding issues
‘Of course in my speech I will talk about President Vlolodymyr Zelensky’s Ukrainian Formula for Peace, as well as the need for the participation of representatives of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people – the representative body of the indigenous people in the negotiation process,’ – Bariiev said.
