The Crimean Tatar Resource Centre has been active for over nine years. During this time we have organised many events, including hundreds of actions, dozens of successful advocacy and information campaigns, exhibitions, side events, trainings, press conferences, seminars, camps and academies.
This kind of work requires a highly skilled team. To effectively train others, we are constantly improving ourselves, studying global best practices and sharing experiences to improve our skills. We are always looking to develop and never rest on our laurels.
On 26 August – 4 September, CTRC Communications Manager Tetiana Savchuk took part in the Summer School ‘Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy’ organised by Global Campus of Human Rights and Picture People.
The programme included lectures, workshops, working groups, trainings, screenings and discussions of films, both in-house and at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, combining human rights expertise, media research and video advocacy strategies.
In particular, Tetiana Savchuk showed the school participants the film ‘Crimea.Dehydration’ by the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre and the ‘Mir & Co’ Charitable Foundation.
‘This film raises one of the most pressing topics of our time: water scarcity on the peninsula, and highlights the irrational approach of the Russian authorities to the use of water resources. Do Crimeans need water from the Dnieper? Are the occupiers really trying to solve this issue? And who really lacks water? The answers to all these and other questions were presented by the experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre in this film,’- the girl said.
We are grateful to our partners and organisers of the event for the opportunity to gain new knowledge and make useful acquaintances.
More to come!
