August 7, 2024

Crimean Tatar Raim Ayvazov was transferred from the prison in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, to CC-21 in Arkhangelsk region. This is reported by the ‘Crimean solidarity’ public associztion.

The Crimean Tatar told his wife that the  transfer stage was too long. He was taken from the prison to the Ulyanovsk pre-trial detention centre, where he stayed for nine days. He travelled through Kazan, Perm, Yaroslavl.

‘Unfortunately my husband is even further from home now. As soon as he was escorted to prison, I immediately wrote an application requesting that Raim serve his sentence closer to home, but I received a negative response,’ – Mavile said.

We would like to remind that, on 27 March 2019, Russian security forces in the occupied Crimea conducted mass searches in 26 houses of Crimean Tatars. As a result, 20 people suspected of involvement in the organisation ‘Hizb ut-Tahrir’ banned in the Russian Federation were detained, one of them was Raim Ayvazov.

On 28 March, three more Crimean Tatar activists were detained and their homes were searched in their absence. On 27-28 March, the occupation court arrested all 23 Crimean Tatar activists detained after the searches. They were given a measure of restraint in the form of detention. Subsequently, all the defendants in the ‘case’ were repeatedly extended the term of arrest.
