In the first half of 2024, no less than 23 cases of violation of the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health were recorded, 21 – in relation to the Crimean Tatars. For the same period in 2023, 29 were recorded (21 against Crimean Tatars), and in 2022, 19 (18 against Crimean Tatars).
During the month, this right was violated in relation to political prisoners of Crimea – Rustem Sheikhaliev, Server Mustafayev, Teymur Abdullaev, Seitveli Seitabdiev, Amet Suleymanov (4), Iryna Danilovich (2), Tofik Abdulgaziev (5), Remzi Kurtnezirov, Vladlen Abdulkadirov, Ali Mamutov, Arsen Abkhairov, Server Mustafayev, Emil Ziyadinov, Rustem Seitmemetov, Ismet Ibragimov.
These cases of violations are related to the deteriorating state of health of political prisoners in places of detention, ignoring the petitions of lawyers and prisoners themselves, failure to provide adequate medical care.
Particular attention should be paid to the situations of Amet Suleymanov, whose health condition has significantly deteriorated during his stay in prison, and Tofik Abdulgaziev, who was diagnosed with tuberculosis and bilateral pneumonia.
These people are seriously ill, as well as a number of other political prisoners. Due to inadequate conditions in pre-trial detention centres and prisons, due to the systematic ignoring of complaints about their health, due to inadequate and untimely medical care, their health condition continues to deteriorate. And, unfortunately, we have already had deplorable consequences when political prisoners Dzhemil Gafarov and Konstantin Shiring died.
By these actions, the Russian Federation violates the right of political prisoners to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. Moreover, according to rf legislation, seriously ill people should be released from detention, as human life is the highest value, the sentence should not become a death sentence.
We demand that the Russian Federation immediately release the above-mentioned persons and all other political prisoners, as well as stop the systematic violation of human rights in the occupied Crimea.
