Two Jehovah’s Witnesses from Crimea sentenced to 6 years’ suspended imprisonment by occupiers

July 4, 2024

The occupation authorities of Crimea sentenced two Jehovah’s Witnesses from Krasnogvardeyskoye, Sergey Parfenovich and Yuri Gerashchenko, to 6 years of suspended imprisonment with a probation period of 4 years.

This is reported by the Crimean human rights Group (CHRG).

We would like to remind that in September 2022  the family of Sergei Parfenovich, the father of six children, armed law enforcers searched for 6 hours. After that Parfenovich was detained and taken for questioning  to Simferopol. He spent 2 days in the temporary detention centre and a month and a half in the pre-trial detention centre, and then he was transferred to house arrest.

The second detainee, Yuri Gerashchenko, was charged with the same offence in 2023 in the framework of this case. In July 2023, the case went to  the “court”.
