EU Council extends sanctions against Russia on 17 June

June 17, 2024

The extension of sanctions was announced on the Council’s website.

The sanctions were extended for another year – until 23 June 2025.

We want to remind that, the restrictions currently in force were first introduced in June 2014 and include a ban on imports of products from illegally occupied Crimea or Sevastopol to the EU, infrastructure or financial investments and tourist services.

In addition, exports of a list of goods and technology to Crimean companies are also subject to sanction restrictions.

“The EU does not recognize and continues to condemn the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation as a violation of international law.” – the EU Council said in a statement.
