Political prisoner claims violence by Russian detention centre wardens

June 19, 2024

Ekrem Krosh, a defendant of the second Dzhankoy group of Hizb ut-Tahrir, has reported violence on the part of the wardens of pre-trial detention centre No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don.

This is reported by “Crimean Solidarity” with reference to the lawyer Aleksey Ladin.

Krosh noted that the violence was used without reason, and suggested that it could have happened because of the seizure of the detention centre by detainees on 16 June. Then, as the media reported, the pre-trial detention centre was searched and staff and inmates were questioned.

“In the future, the defence is going to give its assessment [of this incident] and carry out a number of procedural measures to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Alexei Ladin said.

He added that violence was used only against Ekrem Krosh. The other participants of the case conveyed that they feel “more or less well”.

We will remind, on 11 August in Dzhankoy district there were mass searches of Crimean Tatar activists. The law enforcers detained six men, including Enver Krosh, on charges of participation in Hizb ut-Tahrir.
