Timur Shaimardanov was a member of the public initiative “Ukrainian People’s House”. In the morning of 26 May 2014, he left home and did not return. According to his wife, Timur wanted to go to the bank. At 10:15 he called his mother, then immediately his father, exchanged a few words about the elections and something unimportant and said that it was not worth calling him in the near future – he would be busy with something important. After that he did not contact any more and his whereabouts are unknown to his relatives and friends.
It is unknown where he disappeared and under what circumstances, there are no witnesses.
“It was my last school week. He was supposed to pick me up in the afternoon. But he didn’t come. My mum had to come from work to pick me up. From that point on, he didn’t answer the phone and there was no contact. Nothing is known about my father at the moment. … If I could only change something, I would only bring my dad back,” says Timur’s son Mark in the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre’s documentary “Bring Back My Dad”.
Criminal cases have been opened over the disappearance, both in the occupied Crimea and in mainland Ukraine, but so far the investigation has not yielded any results.
We sincerely hope that Timur will be found and will return back home to his family!
