Under the guise of “restoration,” the Russian occupiers continue to destroy the famous Khan’s Palace in the occupied Bakhchisarai.
The Russians are showing the whole world that they are allegedly carrying out “important restoration work” in the palace to preserve it, although in reality they are only destroying it. After all, the occupiers do not adhere to the appropriate technologies for conducting such work. Their actions only cause enormous damage to the palace, whose walls are already supported by sticks.
Thus, the repair and restoration work is now carried out by the Russian federal autonomous institution RusCapBud. The facility’s passport states that all work will be completed by December 29, 2024. Although the “head” of the occupied Crimea Aksyonov promised to complete this three years ago, this deadline was postponed to 2023.
According to Krym.Realii, modern paving slabs are being laid on Palace Square in front of the Great Khan’s Mosque.
In addition, the passage to the Khan’s cemetery has been closed to visitors for several years. Other figures have appeared in the summer terrace. And, of course, the occupiers placed a propaganda stand “SMO” on the historical site.
As previously reported by the CTRC, the occupiers also continue to conduct illegal excavations there. All exhibits are stored in unacceptable conditions.
Unfortunately, now we see how the monument of the sixteenth century, which is a unique architectural monument and the only example of Crimean Tatar palace architecture in the world, is being destroyed.
We should remember this not only when something collapses again, or when the occupiers destroy another hall.
We need to pay attention to this constantly and respond to the illegal actions of the occupiers in advance so that it is not too late …
The CTRC emphasizes that the occupation authorities will sooner or later be held accountable for all illegal actions, including the so-called “restoration” of the Khan’s Palace. Occupants, think about it! Stop destroying the landmark of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people!
