«They screamed and scared the kids»: how mass searches were carried out in the occupied Crimea?

March 5, 2024
On March 5, early in the morning, Russian occupiers in Bakhchisarai and Dzhankoy districts of the occupied Crimea conducted mass searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars: Rustem Osmanov, Aziz Azizov, Memet Lumanov, Mustafa Abduramanov, Remzi Kurtnezirov, Vait Mustafayev, Ali Mamutov, Arsen Kashka, Enver Khalilaev, Nariman Ametov.
All Crimean Tatars are charged with Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such an organization»).

As always, the occupants began conducting illegal searches early in the morning – at 4:00. The law enforcers, as usual, behaved rudely. It is reported that they used physical force against the detainees. Personal belongings were seized from people: phones, tablets, laptops, passports.

With their shouts and actions, the Russians frightened all civilians in the towns, including even children.

What do the relatives of the detainees say about this?

«My daughter woke up from the terrible sound,» – Elmaz Useinova, the wife of Rustem Osmanov.

«They woke up my mother, she has a 1st group disability,» – Alime Bekirova, mother-in-law of Aziz Azizov.

«They turned out all the documents and personal belongings,» – Anna Korniychuk, wife of detainee Memet Lyumanov.

«They shouted and scared the children,» – Emine Islyamova, Remzi Kurtnezirov’s daughter.

«They put my husband on the floor,» – Ekaterina Gudimenko, the wife of Arsen Kashk.

«They searched every room,» – Selime Minalieva, the wife of Imam Vahid Mustafayev.

«I was very frightened and did not know what to do,» – Emirali Sheikhaliyev, Ali Mamutov’s son.

«They woke up the child by scaring him with a gun,» – Lenara Sheikhisliamova, Ali Mamutov’s wife.

We see that the «Russian peace» continues by all means to introduce its power and influence in various regions, imposing its rules of the game. First of all, by intimidating the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
