Activist Iryna Danylovych was deprived of the opportunity to take necessary medications in the colony. Her father Bronislav Danylovych told Crimea.Realities correspondent about this.
According to him, in the colony only 90 minutes are allotted for the distribution of medicines, two days a week. During this time, only up to 30 people are served, while the queue of prisoners extends to hundreds of positions.
“Fights periodically occur among patients for the opportunity to be at the front of the line and get medicine. Iryna is not participating in this and for several months now she has been deprived of access to the medications that doctors prescribed for her and which we regularly send in parcels. This is just some kind of sadism”,- said Danylovych.
In addition, he noted the poor sanitary conditions in the colony: there is no hot water and quality dishwashing, which affects the growth of intestinal diseases among prisoners, for which no one is treating.
We remind you that on April 29, 2022, in the occupied Crimea in the village of Vladyslavivka near Feodosiia, Russian security forces conducted a search in the house of citizen journalist Iryna Danylovych, after which the woman was detained.
On December 28, 2022, an illegal occupation court in Feodosiia issued a sentence against Iryna Danylovych: seven years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand Russian rubles.
We also remind you that Russia’s actions are a violation of the Geneva Convention, according to which the failure to provide medical care is equivalent to torture.
On March 22, 2023, Iryna Danylovych declared a dry hunger strike until she was provided with normal medical treatment or until her death. She took this step in protest against the abuse of her by the administration of the pre-trial detention center due to the failure to provide medical care.
On April 4, 2023, the management of the pre-trial detention center promised to provide Iryna with the opportunity to undergo an examination, after which the activist stopped her hunger strike, but to date she has not been provided with any treatment.
