In 2023, 173 arrests/detentions were recorded, 119 in relation to Crimean Tatars. During the same period in 2022, 121 detentions were recorded, and in 2021 – 366. This is stated in the analysis of human rights violations in the occupied Crimea by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
Residents of Crimea were detained on suspicion of involvement in the organizations banned in the Russian Federation Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jehovah’s Witnesses, for participation in the Noman Celebidzhikhan battalion, for evading conscription into the armed forces of the Russian Federation, for justifying terrorism on social networks, promotion of terrorism, for high treason, etc., and mass arrests were also recorded near court buildings.
