The Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent to court an indictment against a captured Crimean citizen who served under a contract in the Russian army. The press service of the department reports this.

“In July 2023, a resident of Crimea voluntarily entered into a contract for military service in the Russian armed forces. As a rifleman in a motorized rifle brigade, he stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Maryinka, Donetsk region. In September 2023, servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces took the man as a prisoner of war,- the report says.

The man is accused under Part 2 of Art. 111, part 7 art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Treason committed under martial law, and voluntary participation of a citizen of Ukraine in the armed formation of the aggressor state).

The name and surname of the person involved is unknown, there are no public statements in the public domain.

Let us remind you that the Crimean Tatar Resource Center last year launched an information campaign “Grave Mogilization”, within which residents of Crimea are informed about the consequences of participating in the war on the side of the Russian Federation, how they can avoid mobilization, what to do if they receive a summons, how to travel to third countries and etc.
