The Crimean Tatar Resource Center continues to talk about family persecution in occupied Crimea and today we want to share with you the story of the family of Lilia Seytumerova, from whom the Russian occupiers took three sons – Seytumer Seytumerov, Osman Seytumerov, Abdulmedzhit Seytumerov and brother Rustem Seitmemetov.
Seytumer Seytumerov, Osman Seytumerov and Rustem Seitmemetov were taken away on the same day.
On March 11, 2020, Russian security forces came to search the houses of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchysarai and the Bakhchysarai region. On March 13, Osman Seytumerov, Seytumer Seytumerov and Rustem Seitmemetov were accused of participating in Hizb ut-Tahrir. And already on February 9, 2023, the occupiers sentenced political prisoners to enormous terms. Seytumer Seytumerov was sentenced to 17 years, Osman Seytumerov – 14 years, Rustem Seitmemetov – 13 years.
On August 24, 2023, at four o’clock in the morning, Russian security forces again burst into searches into the houses of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchysarai and the Bakhchysaray district of Crimea. FSB officers detained six people, among whom was Abdulmedzhit Seytumerov. The guy was accused of participating in the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization and was also chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention in a pre-trial detention center.
Due to the illegal actions of the Russian occupation authorities, the life of an entire family has completely changed. Lilia Seytumerova was left without three sons and a brother.
4 searches, 4 criminal cases? Isn’t it too much repression for one family?
We believe and know that justice will be restored very soon and one day all the prisoners from this family will definitely return home, and the occupiers will be responsible for the persecution and repression committed against each family member.
