Russians deprived of the right to leave the country will have their passports confiscated

December 5, 2023

Citizens of the Russian Federation will have to deposit their foreign passport within five days from the date of notification of the travel ban.

This is stated in the decree of the Russian government dated November 22, published on the official portal of legal acts. The document will come into force on December 11, 2023.

According to the law, a travel ban can be imposed on FSB employees, people with access to state secrets and information of special importance, convicts, suspects and defendants in criminal cases, as well as conscripts.

The conscript must submit his passport within five days from the date of the decision to enlist. It will be returned only after the service is completed. If the relevant document is not submitted without a valid reason, the passport will be invalidated.

We see that the problem of illegal mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine remains relevant.

Let us remind that the Crimean Tatar Resource Center launched the “Grave Mohilization” campaign, within which residents of Crimea are informed about how they can avoid mobilization, what to do if they receive a summons, how to travel to third countries etc.
