Eight judges who defected to the Russian side after the occupation of Crimea were sentenced. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The verdict was announced against the judges of the Supreme court of Crimea, the chairman and judge of the Simferopol district “court” of Crimea, judges of the Yevpatoriia and Feodosiia city courts, judges of the Dzhankoi district court.
“The convicts administered justice in the interests of the occupying state, thereby contributing to the formation and strengthening of the occupation authorities on the peninsula”,- the ARC Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Five of the defendants were sentenced to 12 years in prison, two more to 13, and one received 15 years under Part 1 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason).
