During the opening ceremony of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the world to maintain and increase pressure on the Russian occupier.
The President noted that, as always, representatives of the Crimean Tatar people, the indigenous people, take part in the Crimean Platform summit.
“I encourage you to hear the pain of these people. People who have already tried to be deprived of their homes several times. Who went through deportation carried out by Moscow. Who has been held captive by the occupiers for almost ten years now”,- he noted.
Mr. Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia’s attempts to control Crimea are not only a story about land, not only about the military bridgehead that Moscow needed in the Black Sea in order to destabilize neighboring regions. This is a story about people who must be saved from all repression.
“This is a story about political prisoners who are about to be released from Russian prisons – women, men, young and old… Different. This is a story about families that deserve to be protected. This is the story of a culture that has the right to its own home, free from invaders, just like any other human culture. Please remember these people. None of them deserve to have their fates frozen. And therefore our goal is the complete de-occupation of our land. Complete, including Crimea. We must implement it”,- added Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
