According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, 299 political prisoners and those prosecuted in criminal cases were recorded during the occupation of Crimea, 202 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. According to the CTRC, this category consists of 5 components depending on the status of the persecuted:
– sentenced and serve terms in a colonies (142, 99 – Crimean Tatars);
– have restrictions or on probation (34, 19 – Crimean Tatars);
– in detention facilities (38, 24 – Crimean Tatars);
– released (53, 33 – Crimean Tatars);
– persecuted (32, 26 – Crimean Tatars).
